Wade . v. intrans. Cross: Ar. and P. διᾰβαίνειν ; see swim. Wade through, go through a long list, etc., met.: P. and V. διέρχεσθαι (acc.). Wade through slaughter: V. διὰ φόνου χωρεῖν (Eur., And. 175). Your whole house shall wade through blood: V. πᾶς σὸς οἶκος βήσεται διʼ αἵματος (Eur., Phoen. 20).
Waft . v. trans. P. and V. φέρειν, V. οὐρίζειν, ἐπουρίζειν. Be wafted: P. and V. φέρεσθαι, Ar. and P. ἐπουρίζειν (Plat.). The breezes waft the wreathes of incense smoke: Ar. θυμιαμάτων δʼ αὖραι διαψαίρουσι πλεκτάνην καπνοῦ (Av. 1716).
Wafting . adj. P. and V. οὔριος (Thuc. and Plat.), V. πόμπῐμος, ὠκύπομπος, εὔπομπος, πομπαῖος. A wafting breeze: V. οὖρος, ὁ (also Xen.).
Wag . v. trans. Shake: P. and V. σείειν. Wag the tail: P. διασείειν οὐρᾷ (Xen.), διασαίνειν (absol.) (Xen.). V. σαίνειν (absol.), Ar. κέρκῳ σαίνειν (Eq. 1031). Wag the tongue: V. ἀ̆πογυμνάζειν στόμᾰ (Æsch., Theb. 441).
